Indigenous peoples can help inform the evolution of IP policy by highlighting alternative models for managing innovation and sharing knowledge.
United Nations University Institute of Advanced StudiesLocated in Yokohama, Japan, UNU-IAS is a Research and Training Centre of the United Nations University. UNU is an organ of the United Nations that is devoted to research into the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare. The United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) is committed to contributing creative solutions to pressing and emerging issues of global concern. UNU-IAS does this through capacity-building and neutral policy analysis. Their work focuses on challenges facing developing countries and finding practical effective answers to those challenges. UNU-IAS emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to its work. Bringing together international expertise, as well as knowledge from their host country (Japan), they engage experts from all disciplines, such as economics, law, biology, physics and chemistry, in a collaborative and focused way to address key challenges to sustainable development and to provide practical and effective training course.
UNU-IAS emphasizes innovative research methodologies and approaches in their efforts to challenge orthodox thinking and promote creative solutions to pressing global problems. Their work also emphasizes strategic approaches to issues, with particular attention on new and emerging issues on the agenda of the international community. The aims and purpose of Call of the Earth complement the UNU-IAS portfolio of projects very well. As a result UNU-IAS is honored to be associated with and support this important initiative. |
