Faviola Ramos RojasFaviola Ramos Rojas is a descendent of the Waroa people, Venezuela. She was born on 24 May 1975 in Araguaimujo, Delta Amacuro State, situated east of Venezuela. Faviola is the seventh of nine children born to Genaro Ramos and Daniela Rojas. She has a strong background in education, politics and community affairs. Faviola was educated at the Instituto Tecnológico Dr. Delfín Mendoza de Tucupita in Venezuela. Her studies and areas of interest included education (Técnico Superior en Educación and indigenous rights and hydrocarbon resources (Diploma Superior en Derechos Indígenas y Recursos Hidrocarburíferos). Her commitment to indigenous rights saw her enter the political arena where she was later appointed Secretary of Indigenous Affairs. After some time she was appointed Social Worker at Casa Municipal de la Mujer in Tucupita. Faviola also has senior managerial experience gained through her appointment as member of the Regional Institute of Indigenous Assistance of Delta Amacuro State (Instituto Regional de Atención al Indígena - IRIDA) where she acted as Executive Director on behalf of the Mayor's Office.
Faviola is a regular contributor at the national and international levels in relation to her areas of expertise. Her commitment to indigenous rights and resources is further illustrated by her involvement in the Andean Community of Nations. |
