Kingi Gilbert

Kingi Gilbert is a interactive entertainment producer based in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand where he previously worked on next-generation games for the Xenon and PlayStation3 platforms. Kingi originally hails from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and is from the Ngati Whakaue and Ngati Maniapoto tribes [Maori] of the Rotorua Lakes and Waikato regions. He has been a member of many Polynesian cultural performance groups and Maori weaponry schools for 15 years, where he has travelled and performed internationally with the New Zealand Tourism Board and organisations such as Qantas and Air New Zealand.

Currently he is Associate Director of Haka the Legend whose business is to provide cultural experiences at traditional Maori villages (pa) throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand). He has a keen interest in the development and marketing of intellectual property in the digital interactive era. His goal is to assist indigenous people to share their tribal stories and rich history with the many cultures around the world in a manner that does not exploit indigenous cultures.
