Paul Schultz

Paul Schultz is a member of the Anishinaabe or Ojibwe Nation, Mississippi Band, Bear Clan. Mr. Schultz is a graduate of the Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a degree in public education and special studies in public speaking. In addition Paul has been given important traditional Native teachings from several different healers/spiritual teachers representing five different Tribal Nations. After that training Paul began fulfilling his healer/teacher role which has taken him to Australia, Germany, Switzerland as well as a recent trip to Bellagio, Italy, for discussions among Indigenous leaders regarding intellectual property rights.

Through Healing The Heart of Diversity, Paul was involved in two trips to the African Countries of Senegal, Benin, and Togo. PROMETRA (a collaborative of traditional and western medical healers) provided a stimulating discussion and shared an exciting way of bringing the two healing paths together that directly benefits the people. Mr. Schultz was named the Outstanding National Alumni for 2004 by Healing The Heart of Diversity.

Paul, 61 years old, has been working as an advocate for racial justice for the past 35 years. His work involves education, industry, government and national and international churches. He has been active as a lobbyist for federal government programs impacting oppressed people. He has worked with representatives of the United Nations in efforts to promote global justice. He is currently helping build bridges between medical institutions and traditional healing practitioners.

Many individuals have been helped by his healing work. Paul has become an effective healer helping people deal with death. He has been a teacher for medical clinics and hospice service providers. Ogema, his traditional name, has a particularly unique understanding of spirituality which allows many different kinds of believers to engage him in their exploration of the sacred.

Paul is working as a private consultant and also serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for White Earth Tribal and Community College. He is also a board member for the White Earth Land Recovery Program with Winona La Duke. Finally, every Saturday morning most of northern Minnesota can tune in to a talk show radio program with Paul as the host.
